Local Education Events for Caregivers Coming this Fall

Drive down any busy business district in Sioux Falls and you will find a help wanted sign. According to South Dakota Works, in July there were 28,973 job openings in South Dakota and about a third of a person available for every job opening. Another staggering statistic is that there will be a shortage of 446,300 home health aides and 95,000 nursing assistants by 2025 (May 14th, 2018 edition of Modern Healthcare magazine).

At Kore Cares, we are working hard to improve the health care workforce shortage in the area. Studies show employees not only value compensation and benefits but also training and support. In health care, direct support specialists touch many aspects of patients lives beyond the daily physical needs. They very frequently provide emotional and spiritual support. We want to ensure our employees as well as other direct support specialists are equipped to assist and improve a patient’s overall well-being but also ensure our employees overall well-being is attended to as well. In order to do this, we will be hosting education events for our employees as well as professional and family caregivers, certified nursing assistance, and home care aides.

Our mission is to empower individuals to use their God given gifts and talents to serve those in need. We started this business because we felt home care caregivers, home health aides, certified nurse’s assistants deserved adequate training or support as well as access to ongoing professional and personal development education. There is a huge need to care for the caregivers in this community so they can be equipped to provide exceptional care to those in need. We have noticed that our employees seem to desire on-going education directly related to their daily responsibilities but also have a longing for personal development. We want to offer this education to not only to our employees but any home care caregivers and certified nurse’s assistants in the community.
