How Home Care Can Help You During the COVID-19 Crisis
The Coronavirus Pandemic has created a time of mass uncertainty and worry. Everyone is trying to do what’s best for their family, business, friends, and themselves. Many are isolating due to either their own decisions or due to orders signed by government officials requiring it. As of now in South Dakota has not put an order like this in place, but it’s a likely possibility in the near future. During this time, essential employees will still be able to carry out their duties meaning as a home care agency, we will still be able to serve our clients throughout these times.
We can assure you that we are following CDC guidelines to make sure the caregivers that are seeing clients are healthy. If they’re not, we’re following all CDC and physician recommendations for precautionary time off. One of many benefits of home care, especially during this time, is that we are providing 1-on-1 care. Our employees are not going room to room in hospitals seeing and coming into contact with hundreds of people a day. They are only going to one client at a time and following safety protocols in each home. Our services are necessary for many to stay safe and independent in their home. These times may be presenting even more of a need for assistance at home. Here are a few ways we can help you get through these Coronavirus times.
Groceries
As most know, grocery stores are struggling to keep items on the shelf as people prepare for the possibility of weeks at home in isolation. Due to risks and an impossibly high-volume demand, local grocery stores have stopped their home delivery option. This is a problem for the 60+ age group who are considered the high-risk population of the COVID-19 crisis and should be staying home as much as possible. Our caregivers are able to go out and get groceries for those who are in need of this service. They are willing to take any measures necessary to give you peace of mind coming into your home whether it’s wearing gloves while out, make sure all surfaces are wiped down, wearing masks, etc.
Cleaning
One statement we have made often lately is that this is not the time to not keep a clean household. For many that we serve keeping a clean household can be challenging due to physical limitations. Our caregivers can come into your home and ensure that it’s kept clean to reduce the risk of anything spreading throughout the house.
Transportation
If you or your loved one is someone who is needing to go to important appointments, we can send a caregiver to provide transportation. Many options such as family and friends may be limited due to their own quarantine needs. Options like cabs, Lyfts, or Uber may be limited or seem riskier due to traffic in and out of the vehicles. We can provide transportation in either yours or the caregiver’s vehicle and take any necessary measures to make sure it’s a clean and safe environment.
Getting Up/Going to Bed
Our caregivers can assist clients with personal cares, morning routines, and bedtime routines wherever the client may call home. Many facilities are short staffed and struggling to keep up with demands of higher-needs residents. If you or a loved one are affected by this, consult the facility about bringing in home care to help with getting up for the day and going to bed at night to help lessen the need of their staff.
