How Emergency Response Systems Can Help Through COVID-19
More than ever, people are worrying about their loved ones. Especially those that are dependent on certain services that help them get by day-to-day that may be disrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Even if they’re in the same city, many are staying away from family (particularly parents, grandparent and those who are immunodeficient) who are the most at-risk population. If you’re concerned about them, we have caregiving services that can help. We also offer emergency alert systems that can be set up in the home. We have answered questions you may have below!
What is an emergency response system?
Emergency response systems also known as medical alert systems are a wearable bracelet or pendant necklace that, when pressed, alert either family members, 9-1-1, or both if you have an emergency.
How does an emergency response system work?
There are two different types of pendants available. The button pendant can be worn as a necklace or a wristband depending on personal preference. After a fall has happened or someone is need of medical attention and unable to help themselves, the user can press the button on their pendant. The other form is a fall detection pendant that alerts the system when there is a fall-like motion made.
From there, a responder will make contact with the device. If there is no answer or further assistance is needed, emergency contacts are called and then contact with emergency services is made.
How do I get it set up?
Kore Cares can do all of that for you! Once we get the information we need, we will order the device and schedule a time to come set it up, test it, and make sure the client is comfortable knowing how to use it before we leave. We ensure that our staff will take all necessary safety precautions while in the home; however, if you’re unsure about someone entering the home Kore Cares can have the device sent to your house and guide you through setting it up over the phone, or video chat.
Does the emergency response system work outside the home?
There is a GPS unit that can be brought on errands, doctors’ appointments, etc. The device is very small and can fit in a pocket, purse, etc. The device allows your button to work as it does at home and tracks your location in the event that emergency responders need to come to you.
How far is the range in my home?
Your unit will pick up when the button is pressed up to 400ft. Certain barriers such as walls and doors may disrupt this range to a certain point.
Can the pendants be worn while bathing?
Yes, your emergency response system pendant is water resistant. We do not recommend submerging the pendant in water for a long period of time.
